He is paired with Michael Thomas (Christopher Jericho), an ambitious Black student from Atlanta carrying the weight of his own family’s expectations. Under the stern, exacting gaze of Dean Grace (Keith David), Eli and Michael are forced to confront their differences and prejudices as they endure grueling surgical rounds, relentless exams, and the racism of the world outside campus gates. Through shared struggles in the emergency ward, the two forge a lifelong bond of brotherhood, proving that dedication to medicine and service to others transcends race and class.
