Layover is a fast-paced, high-stakes psychological crime thriller that exposes a dark and terrifying criminal underworld. The story centers on Susanne Hollingsworth (Lauren Holly), a demanding, incredibly wealthy hotel tycoon whose private flight is suddenly grounded due to a severe winter storm. Forced to stay at a dilapidated fleabag motel in the Detroit area, Susanne’s abrasive and entitled behavior quickly makes her a prime target for a predatory local syndicate. Before she can escape, she is violently abducted by a ruthless Russian human trafficking ring that operates under the guise of tricking young, vulnerable women into a fake European modeling contest. Trapped inside a sinister, abandoned hospital alongside other duped victims, Susanne must adapt to survive the brutal environment. Meanwhile, back at the office, her heavily oppressed and downtrodden assistant, Rebecca White (Kaylee DeFer), realizes her boss has completely vanished. Dismissed by indifferent local authorities and cold corporate executives, Rebecca takes the investigation into her own hands. Utilizing her intimate knowledge of Susanne’s daily habits, a tracking chip in a family dog, and a cryptic audio message left behind, Rebecca triggers a desperate race against time to halt a dangerous overseas airlift. But as the captors finalize their transport plans, a shocking twist inside the hideout reveals that the true criminal mastermind is hiding in plain sight among the hostages.
