In 2012, Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) desperately confronts eccentric radio host Charlie Frost (Woody Harrelson) in Yellowstone National Park to retrieve a map leading to the secret government survival arks. Just as Jackson locates the map inside Charlie’s RV, the park’s massive supervolcano violently erupts into a cataclysmic nightmare. While a thrilled Charlie stays behind on a mountaintop to witness the spectacular blast first-hand, Jackson rushes back to his family’s waiting plane, executing a harrowing takeoff and flying directly through a suffocating wall of ash and exploding volcanic debris.
