A perfect getaway weekend turns into a nightmare for four friends who find themselves fighting for their lives against an experimental shark. In order to survive they must fight sharks, zombies, and shark zombies. The chaos ignites on the isolated shores of Red Plum Island, where a secret, covert government research facility operated by rogue biologist Dr. Diane Palmer (Laura Cayouette) and hardened military mercenary Sgt. Maxwell Cage (Jason London) suffers a catastrophic security breach. Their clandestine experiments—aimed at altering shark DNA to engineer regenerative battlefield medicine for injured soldiers—go horribly wrong when an alpha test subject designated as "Bruce" escapes into the open ocean. Carrying a highly contagious, mutating virus, the escaped predator creates a ravenous army of undead, flesh-eating monsters that zombify any marine life or humans they bite.
